A Credo Journey- Ten Years and Counting : a post by Rebecca Shasberger

It’s a familiar story for many of Credo’s younger students: there I was, a somewhat awkward 14-year old, nervously flying across the country to a town called Oberlin for a summer music program I knew little about. It didn’t take long to figure out that I had nothing to be nervous about. I was quickly put at ease by the caring counselors and faculty, not to mention the somewhat awkward classical-music loving friends I made from day one.

Help After Harvey: a powerful display of serving others with the gift of music

On Friday September 8, 2017 eighty four musicians took the stage at Severance Hall to allow their gift of music to serve those affected by the devastating hurricanes in Texas and Florida. The full orchestra included musicians from The Cleveland Orchestra together with students from the Oberlin Conservatory and the Cleveland Institute of Music: 18 Credo alumni and faculty among them.

Credo Music Welcomes Henry Peyrebrune as Executive Director

Credo Music welcomes Henry Peyrebrune as its first Executive Director. Appointed by the Board of Directors effective July 17, 2017, he joins Founder and Artistic Director Peter Slowik to lead Credo in its next phase of growth. Mr. Peyrebrune has been a bassist in The Cleveland Orchestra since 1997 – a position he will retain. From 2014 – 2017, he also worked as a gift officer on the Orchestra’s Philanthropy & Advancement team.

To Rome and Back: Part One – Inspired by the Search for Inspiration

Since coming to Oberlin, Credo alums Dana Johnson (violin, ’14) and Corey Worley (viola, ’15) have sought to play the music of our time. This passion for contemporary music has led to playing in Oberlin’s contemporary music ensemble, participating in specialized new music academies, and forming their own new music ensembles. One of these ensembles is Trio Ligatura.
