Credo will provide daily snacks and a special event meal. Otherwise, participants may take advantage of Chicago’s vibrant food scene. Dozens of restaurants are within easy walking distance, whether you prefer a quick, inexpensive bite, casual dining, or crave to explore the best of what Chicago has to offer! If you prefer to prepare your own meals, grocery stores are available nearby.

If you are driving to campus, we recommend that you park in the Grant Park South underground lot, which is just steps away from campus. There are several other parking lots nearby, and you may also consider using a parking app like Spot Hero to search for the best deals nearby.

You can access both of the airports in Chicago from public transportation. Google Maps works very well for Chicago’s public transportation. (To see the train schedules, type the start and end points and then click the ‘transit’ icon.)
Trains run regularly. For BOTH Chicago O'Hare and Midway airports, the “L” train (the name for Chicago’s light rail transit) is the gold standard – it’s cheap (you can purchase a single ride pass), VERY convenient (almost door-to-door), and safe.
From Midway Airport:
Take the Orange Line to Harold Washington Library at State and Van Buren. Then walk 4/10 of a mile.
OR take the train around the loop (another 5-8 min) to Adams/Wabash. Then walk 1/10 of a mile.
(Click here to see the Orange Line hours of operation.)
From Chicago O’Hare:
Take the Blue Line to the Jackson stop. Then walk 3/10 of a mile.
(The Blue Line operates continuously 24 hours a day.)

Alternative options include:
Staying with family or friends in the area.
Teaming up to get a less expensive suburban hotel (or AirBNB).
Staying at the HI Chicago, Harris Family Hostel. (Let us know if you are! We’re working with them to have Credo participants housed together.)
Teaming up to split a hotel downtown. (Two within walking distance we can recommend are: Club Quarters Hotel or Cambria Hotel)
Pairing up with a host home. Contact us if you would like to look into the opportunity (not guaranteed).

Credo will provide adult chaperones and these students will need to be proactive and independent in navigating downtown Chicago. String Intensive students will be busy 9am-5pm, and we'll have early curfew hours at the dorm (about 9pm). However, we can't guarantee supervision for all students in the period 5pm-9pm.
Students under age 16 can also stay locally with families, friends, or relatives. Public transportation to Symphony Center is very convenient from anywhere in the Chicago area.
